The Lake Placid 4-H hosted and old fashion fall festival at Stuart Park in Downtown Lake Placid, featuring a pumpkin patch. There were a variety of pumpkins in all shapes and sizes for sale, along with corn stalks, pumpkin bread and cupcakes. Children of all ages were enjoying the cooler weather, getting their faces painted, participating in sack races, hula hoop contest and tug-of-war. Smells of popcorn, hot dogs and cotton candy filled the air. There was even a photo opportunity set up to capture the memories, complete with tractor, hay bales, and scarecrows. The whole morning was filled with fun wholesome entertainment while raising money for a worthwhile cause!!
Mason Smoak Family Fun Day & Music Festival
First Saturday Morning Market was a Success!
Well….the rain held off all morning and the first Saturday Morning Market of the 2011-2012 season was a success. The produce was beautiful and the entertainment added charm and atmosphere. There were a variety of booths and vendors like….. canned preserves, plants, herbs, handmade jewelry and bags, wines, herb infused oils, and baked goods. Not to mention some mouthwatering selections from Jaxson’s Restaurant and Hartzell’s. Everything smelled delicious, I wasn’t able to sample it all but I did have a pulled pork sandwich from Hartzell’s and it was fantastic. The market is held on the second Saturday of each month from October through March.

Devane Park
I was just taking a drive from my house to my parents house this morning when I stopped to admire the revitalized Devane Park. There was a couple sitting at the picnic table watching their children run and play and four generations of ladies just walking around enjoying the new facilities. The older of the 4 women told me she thought the park was such a great addition to the town she wanted to bring her daughter, granddaughter and great granddaughter to see it when they came to visit. I feel blessed to live in a such a beautiful town that takes pride in and is continually beautifying the downtown area.

Why is the first post always so hard? I think it is because we don’t know where to begin. I don’t want to sound hokey or silly. So now its over with I can get down to business.
